By using Barco Brain, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
To provide our AI-powered nutritional analysis and progress tracking services, we collect the following categories of data:
A. Personal Information
Account Data
When you sign up, we collect your email address and unique User ID via Supabase Auth.
Profile Data
Information you provide such as your display name, avatar choice, dietary preferences such as Vegan or Gluten-Free, and health goals.
B. Scan and Health Data
Image Data
Photos of food, product barcodes, and nutrition labels that you capture or upload from your device gallery.
Nutritional Data
Extracted or estimated calories, macronutrients such as protein, carbs, and fats, ingredients, and health scores derived from your scans.
History and Progress
Your saved scan history, daily streaks, meal logs, and calculated Health Grade statistics.
C. Device and Usage Information
App Permissions
With your consent, we access your device's Camera to scan items and Photo Library to upload existing images.
Technical Logs
Anonymous data regarding app performance, crashes, and device type to help us improve the App.
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
Nutritional Analysis
To identify food items and extract data from labels using advanced AI models.
Personalization
To tailor health insights and food suggestions based on your dietary preferences.
Synchronization
To store your scan history and progress securely in the cloud using Supabase so you can access it across multiple devices.
AI Interaction
To power the Ask AI chatbot, allowing you to ask specific questions about the foods you scan.
App Improvement
To analyze anonymized usage patterns and improve the accuracy of our food recognition algorithms.
A. Cloud Storage
Your scan images and history are stored securely using Supabase Storage and PostgreSQL databases. We use enterprise-grade encryption such as TLS/SSL for data in transit and at rest.
B. AI Processing
Images captured for analysis are processed by Artificial Intelligence models, including Google Gemini. These models analyze the visual content to provide nutritional estimates. Your personal images are not used to train public AI models.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
We may share data with trusted service providers only to the extent necessary to provide the App's features:
Infrastructure Providers
Supabase for database, storage, and authentication.
AI Providers
Google for AI analysis.
Payment Processors
Google Play Store and Apple App Store for premium subscriptions.
You have full control over your data within Barco Brain.
Access and Portability
You can view all your saved history and profile data directly in the App.
Data Deletion
You can delete specific scan records or initiate a permanent account deletion via the App settings. Upon deletion, all your personal data, history, and uploaded images will be removed from our active servers.
Anonymization
Some non-identifiable product data, such as a common barcode result, may remain in our global cache to benefit other users, but it will be entirely disconnected from your identity.
Barco Brain is for informational and educational purposes only. The nutritional values, health scores, and AI insights provided are estimates. Barco Brain is not a medical device, doctor, or dietitian. Always consult a healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes or for managing medical conditions or allergies.
Barco Brain is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover a child under 13 has provided us with data, we will take immediate steps to delete it.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the Last Updated date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
